Assets - TOPPS Training

Want to replace negativity with positivity?
A positive tide is rising.
Across Alaska people are beginning to talk about what they each can do to build successful, caring, and resilient children and youth.To meet the demand, we have to equip more presenters/promoters with:
- the background information and research needed to validate the assets framework;
- methods of conveying the power of the framework to an audience;
- a network of presenters to share insights and ideas;
- a synopsis of what is currently happening to build assets in Alaska; and
- a vision of the direction Alaskans are heading.
The Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB) has put together a two-day training for presenters and promoters on the following dates:
- October 4th and 5th in Anchorage, Alaska.
Our goal is to provide participants with the necessary information and tools to give workshops, seminars, presentations, and overviews.
In order to increase the quality of this interactive learning environment, registration is limited to 20 participants. The fee for this 2-day workshop is $199. The checks must be payable to AASB and mailed to 316 W. 11th Street, Juneau, AK 99801.
The facilitator will be Derek Peterson, AASBs Director of Child/Youth Advocacy. Derek has been leading teacher in-services, youth leadership institutes, school board seminars, and community workshops about the asset framework for the past 4 years. He has keynoted state wide and regional conferences, and is being asked to take the news of Alaskas efforts to audiences nation wide.
To register for this training, contact Anita Johnson at ajohnson@aasb.org or 586-1083. Space will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
