Alaskas 1st Annual Conference for Teens (13-19 years) and Adults (20-120 years) Friday, March 17, 2000 from 6pm - 10pm
and
Saturday, March 18, 2000 from 9am - 5pmOn March 17, 200 Alaskans will gather at Anchorages 4th Avenue Theatre to sustain our shared efforts to ensure a bright future for all our young people.Individuals from families, neighborhoods, faith communities, schools, elected offices, businesses, and service organizations are being invited. Their objective will be to collectively and collaboratively bring forward and address complex and diverse issues that relate to building assets in Alaskas youth.
Using the innovative "open space" conference format, participants will essentially create their own conference; becoming each others teachers and leaders. Open space is an intricately structured process founded upon a passion for change and a balance of individual and group responsibility. Open Space is based on the belief that we Alaskans are intelligent, creative, adaptive, meaning- and fun-seeking. It sets the context for us to come together knowing that each one of us has pieces of the whole body of asset-building knowledge to share. This is important because together we are more powerful than we are alone.

Communication and respect among teens and adults is the foundation for each of the 40 assets. In order to practice asset building throughout the conference, we are requesting teens and adults to form partnerships. There is a discounted conference fee of $100 for each teen/adult pair. This rewards teens who bring an adult and adults who attend with a teen. This first conference is limited to the first 200 people to register. Early registration is recommended.
Asset Building: A Shared Responsibility: "Making It Personal" promises to be action packed, inspirational, hands on and interactive! Come share the vision and make your contribution to Alaskas Asset movement!
